Dear Colleague,

First of all, please allow us to wish you, your loved ones, and your colleagues all the very best in these unsettling times. Be assured that we at Hogrefe are still here for you, albeit with many of us working remotely from home rather than in our offices. It is not only staff at Hogrefe who are still here for you: our online shop continues to provide full service as usual and, happily, our distribution center partners in the US (Ohio) and in Europe are also fully operational, while of course taking suitable precautions to ensure the health of staff.

This issue of our newsletter provides you not only with some updates about our journals and books. As a small incentive for you to obtain stimulating reading matter, at a time when some online dealers are concentrating on more physical necessities, we’re happy to announce that we are now offering free shipping within the US and Canada on all print books ordered directly from our website during April and May. Some of our recent releases are listed on the right. To order with no shipping charges, simply click on a cover there or browse our website, and at checkout choose the option “free shipping”. Alternatively, if delivery services are disrupted in your location, you could always try the e-book edition, which you’ll be able to read within minutes (if not seconds) ….

Once again, here is wishing you and yours all the very best is,

Your Hogrefe Publishing Team

Suicide and Suicide Prevention From a Global Perspective
Edited by Ella Arensman, Diego De Leo, Jane Pirkis
Suicide prevention is an important target in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, which aim to reduce premature mortality from noncommunicable diseases by one-third. Suicide is a global problem, but what differences are there in the challenges faced and the solutions found regionally and what can we learn from them? A monograph examining these questions has been published as an online supplement to our journal Crisis – or alternatively, order the print edition from our website.
Behavior and Medicine
You may remember we presented some Q&A’s with the editors of the brand new textbook Behavior and Medicine in our last newsletter. Now we have also released a short video interview in which editor Danny Wedding talks about teaching behavioral science to medical students. So read or watch the Q&As, or check out the additional resources for teachers to gain more understanding about how the must-have text can help educate medical and other health science students.

News about the European Journal of Health Psychology
There have been some changes at the European Journal of Health Psychology.
As incoming editor-in-chief Heike Spaderna writes, “Share your research, conceptual ideas, and practice experiences with EJHP. The editorial team and the publisher will make every effort to give you a smooth publishing experience.” Check out our new flyer summarizing all the important information about the journal – and think about submitting a paper!

News from our OA journal Psychological Test Adaptation and Development (PTAD)
The editorial team have recently released some clarifications concerning PTAD’s open data policy. The journal has a broad and comprehensive open data policy, while recognizing that in the field of psychological assessment data protection and confidentiality impose some limitations on what we can release! The clarifications are included in the full instructions to authors and also featured on PTAD’s website.
Hogrefe (not) on the Road - for now:
We at Hogrefe usually attend numerous conferences in the professional and scientific communities of which we are a part. We’ll miss seeing you at events like the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting – but look forward to attending and meeting you again when the pandemic has been beaten and travel restrictions lifted. As the organizers of the 32nd International Congress of Psychology (ICP 2020) said when postponing the meeting: “It was a difficult decision to make; however the health and safety of the participants and everyone else involved is our highest priority.”
So try and stay healthy and happy – we’ll meet again!
