The ESB is a quick, 15-minute standardized assessment for children 18 months through 5 years that examines social responsiveness, joint attention, and symbolic comprehension. Predictive of later language and social communication difficulties that are often experienced by children who have been diagnosed with ASD, the ESB uses pretend play to understand the preschoolers’ communication challenges. This free webinar will help attendees:  - Understand the opportunities for using the ESB in the evaluation process; - Identify key administrative features for each subtest; - Through videos, analyze behaviors of children to determine the presence of developing social communication skills; and - Integrate observations with systematic scoring criteria to determine standardized scores. Research has consistently shows that children who receive early intervention see significant improvements in communication, language, and social interaction skills. It's important to note that while earlier diagnosis allows for earlier intervention, the specific area of research on early intervention for ASD is still developing -- meaning we need to support ongoing research to further refine the most effective methods for supporting children on the spectrum.
